As a result of collaboration between the Field Improvement Team and PPS, we have been able to get the maintenance crew at PPS to make some interim improvements to the field in the short term. For the next couple of months PPS will be working on the field to make improvements until a more comprehensive refurbishment is possible. The immediate repairs include filling in the hole in the center, aerating and reseeding. PPS will also be working to repair the existing irrigation system on the field so that we have the ability to irrigate throughout the summer to ensure a better grass field next fall.
You will notice temporary fencing around the center hole and signs placed all over the field asking for everyone to keep off the field before and after school hours as well as keeping dogs off the field. It’s especially important to keep dogs off the field–as they do more damage than shoes!
Beyond these immediate repairs, the Field Improvement Project Committee is working on fundraising plans and seeking grants for a more comprehensive refurbishment of the field. To learn more about this please visit www.alamedafield.org. And, if you or someone you know has experience writing grant proposals and would like to help in this effort please contact Dana Peterson or Aimee Samuelson at Alamedafield@alamedafield.org.
We would really appreciate the support of the entire Community to help get the field back into shape so that we can all enjoy it more in the future. Thank you, in advance, for your help!
